Though NISENGWE Warda never finished primary school, she had big dreams of starting her own business. Her opportunity for success came when she enrolled in the Akazi Kanoze Work Readiness Curriculum (WRC) while receiving complementary skills in traffic code, ICT, and English from implementing partner Maximedia. During the training, she learned many different aspects of how to operate a successful business. The topic of business management along with discipline inspired Warda to finally launch her own business.

On the outskirts of Kigali city, in the sector of Ndera, a group of 26 Akazi Kanoze graduates from the cooperative of Icyerekezo, or “Vision,” are involved in a fish-farming and rabbit project. The youth, who are orphans and vulnerable children, attended the Akazi Kanoze Work Readiness Curriculum and also received complementary training in sericulture from UTEXRWA, a local implementing partner.
